How flooring boxes work
Flooring is sold by the box, and every box label shows the coverage in square feet — usually 15-25 sq ft for laminate or vinyl. The math:
Boxes = (room area × 1.1 waste) ÷ coverage per box, rounded up
Example: 15×12 room
- Area: 15 × 12 = 180 sq ft
- With 10% waste: 198 sq ft
- Box covers 20 sq ft: 198 ÷ 20 = 9.9 → 10 boxes
